Responsibilities
Documentation Development: Design, write, edit, and maintain high-quality, clear, and concise documentation, including:
Operational SOP Manuals for consumption by internal stakeholders that provide visibility into ConOps (Concept of Operations) and help gain alignment on current state of Operations procedures
Field SOPs for on-site remote assistance agents that provide step-by-step instructions on task execution
Process Excellence & Standardization: Work directly with Operations, Engineering, and Safety teams to identify process gaps, ambiguities, and inefficiencies. Translate complex workflows into simplified, standardized, and easy-to-follow procedures, focusing on best practices from process excellence methodologies
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all documentation adheres to stringent internal safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices for a safety-regulated industry (e.g., automotive, aerospace, rail, or medical)
Content Management: Own the content lifecycle from creation and review to publication and archival, ensuring version control, quality, and easy accessibility for intended audiences
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate subject matter expert (SME) reviews and sign-offs for all documentation, managing feedback loops and incorporating necessary technical and operational details accurately
Qualification
Required
5+ years of professional experience as a Technical Writer, specializing in operational procedures, manuals, and technical documentation
Mandatory Experience in a Safety-Regulated Industry (e.g., autonomous vehicles, automotive, aerospace, defense, rail, medical devices, or oil/gas)
Proven experience supporting large-scale, high-availability operations (e.g., fleet operations, logistics, dispatch centers, or NOC/SOC environments)
Demonstrated experience translating highly complex, real-time technical and operational processes into clear, actionable, and standardized documentation
Strong understanding and practical application of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement) applied to documentation and operational procedures
Proficiency with industry-standard documentation tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Paligo, Confluence, SharePoint, etc.) and diagramming software (e.g., Lucidchart, Visio)
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with rapid changes in process and technology
Preferred
Experience documenting procedures for call centers
Direct experience working with or documenting protocols for autonomous vehicles
Certification in a recognized process excellence methodology (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher)
