Legal Intern

Responsibilities

Your intern assignment is generally 10-12 weeks, and co-op assignment is generally 16-18 weeks and will include an assigned project and opportunities to present your work
You will also collaborate on other exciting projects and work with talented peers and inspirational leaders, many of whom began as interns and co-ops themselves
You will be provided a robust developmental experience through an immersive onboarding and offboarding experience, assigned a mentor, networking opportunities, organized events, activities, and community service /volunteer initiatives
You will have the opportunity to impact the future of the organization, all the while being exposed to a world-class program community
Finally, our rising senior interns and co-ops are considered for full-time employment opportunities
The legal intern will support Southwire’s legal team with research, writing, and other legal work projects across a variety of practice areas that could include commercial contracts, employment, intellectual property, environmental, litigation, and marketing to support business needs
The intern may also assist with project management, filing, and administrative tasks
The legal intern will contribute towards mini-projects and assignments, including legal research and writing, that align with legal department projects in support of 2026 business objectives
The legal intern will rotate through various legal departments, including: Intellectual Property, Contracts, Labor & Employment, Litigation, Ethics & Compliance

Required

The candidate must be a degree-track student (J.D. or LLM) who will have completed one year of law school at an ABA accredited institution before the start of the internship. Preference will be given to current 1L students
Minimum 2.5 GPA
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong organization, planning and analytical skills
Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with internal and external customers
The legal intern candidate must upload a copy of their undergraduate transcript, 1L fall semester transcript when available, and a writing sample
