2026 Summer Intern - Cell Therapy

Responsibilities

Lead an independent project evaluating different genetic engineering strategies on T cells and iPSC-derived T cells
Use different tools to introduce novel constructs into T cells and iPSCs and evaluate impact on T cell phenotype and function
Phenotype T cells for subset, activation, and exhaustion markers using flow cytometry and other methods
Analyze data using FlowJo and Prism/R/Python to extract insights and frame additional lines of inquiry
Present experimental designs, analysis strategies, and results in group and department meetings, as well as at final Intern Symposium

Required

Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)
Immunology, Cancer Biology, Genetics/Genomics, Cell Biology, or related field
Extensive experience culturing and engineering primary T cells with lentivirus, nucleases, and/or other genome editing techniques
Hands-on experience designing and running multi-parameter flow cytometry panels
Proficiency with molecular biology assays and NGS workflows
Deep understanding of T cell and CAR-T biology, with knowledge of TCR signaling, cytokine signaling, and thymic development
Ability to design experiments and troubleshoot independently

Preferred

Experience culturing and engineering iPSCs. Experience differentiating iPSCs to T cells is a plus
Familiarity with in vitro assays and in vivo models for oncology and autoimmune CAR-T applications
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
