Confidential is a high-growth financial technology company seeking a hands-on Controller to help build and scale their financial infrastructure. This role will involve day-to-day accounting execution, strengthening financial controls, reporting rigor, and preparing the company for its next phase of growth.

Responsibilities

Own the full accounting lifecycle, including general ledger, close processes, and financial statement preparation

Ensure compliance with US GAAP and implement controls aligned with scalable reporting standards

Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for leadership and external stakeholders

Partner with leadership to improve documentation, audit readiness, and financial discipline

Manage vendor invoicing, bill pay, and expense reimbursements

Oversee payroll processing and coordination with external payroll providers

Maintain cash flow visibility and support treasury operations

Build and document accounting policies, procedures, and SOPs designed to scale

Implement and optimize accounting systems and workflows suitable for long-term growth

Support forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes

Support development and ongoing management of banking and financial institution relationships

Assist with onboarding bank partners and structuring accounts and payment flows

Serve as a finance and accounting liaison for external partners

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Strong working knowledge of US GAAP

Startup experience with exposure to scaling finance operations

5–10 years of progressive accounting experience with ownership of close and reporting

Experience managing invoicing, payments, and payroll

Detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable operating with limited structure

Preferred

CPA or equivalent certification

Experience supporting audits, investor reporting, or external financial reviews

Exposure to transaction-heavy or regulated financial environments

Experience building controls and documentation in advance of increased reporting requirements
