Responsibilities

Oversight of 1,000-3,000 shipments per week (both incoming and outgoing)

Work with management to develop a purchasing strategy based on available reports, provided information, and customer buying trends

Monitor inventory and create purchase orders, determine supply needs, and maintain records of goods ordered and received (inspect product, record lot numbers, expiration dates, etc.)

Build and maintain good working relationships with vendors; negotiate prices and terms; make arrangements for damaged or incorrect shipments; Evaluate vendors based on quality, timeliness, and price

Ensure quality of procured items and identify solutions when problems arise

Work with Operations Manager and Marketing Manager on product availability, forecasting, volume discounts, etc

Stay current with purchasing technology and other procurement trends and recommend new/revised processes as necessary

Schedule daily assignments for staff

Work directly with Warehouse/Physical inventory staff, ensuring current inventory matches our inventory in the system

Pick, remove, or print shipping documents for customer service

Confirm and approve invoices for Accounts Payable

Communicate with the product acquisition team about updated vendor products, prices, shipping costs, contact information, and any other pertinent information

Research and identify support products when needed

Order supplies and equipment for the insectary, office, and kitchen

Using the FIFO model, maintain live, in-stock insects and ensure they are kept properly stored

Schedule maintenance and repair for printers, fax, and copy machines

Update whiteboards in sales cubicles with product availability

Provide backup to Purchasing Associate (Live inspect/Customer Drop Ship)
