PRODUCT ENGINEER I - RFO

Responsibilities

New product development includes assisting senior level engineers on the generation of robust design to support customer program needs
New process development consists of process documentation and data collection to support process / product qualification
Estimating capital equipment in support of development projects. Includes, specifying and implementing new manufacturing equipment
EHS approval for new equipment installations
Analyze yield and process control data, then making design recommendations to address potential manufacturing cost drivers
Resolving component design deficiencies as related to assembly of components
Implement design changes of new products to reduce costs and improve overall manufacturing efficiency
Assist w/ estimating new process rates and component costs in support of NPD
Arrive at cost effective solutions by using Lean Design for Six Sigma concepts

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field is required
Basic understanding of core fiber optic manufacturing processes, termination, polishing, testing, & inspection
Must also be able to work as a team member with remote sites and be flexible to assist product transfers to those sites
Individual to be a self-starter and require minimum supervision
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work well under schedule pressure while balancing priorities
Strong written skills as it relates to design & process documentation
Strong oral skills will be required to interface with team members, suppliers, customers, and sales
Must be able to work safely in a hands-on environment
Must be familiar with the FMEA process

Preferred

Green Belt in Six Sigma Process is desirable but not a requirement
Basic understanding of mil-aero product designs is desirable but not a requirement
