Senior Engineering Technician

The City of Saratoga Springs is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to perform a wide range of technical work related to engineering, utilities, and Public Works projects. The role involves assisting in planning construction projects, overseeing maintenance and repairs, and acting as a liaison between the City and contractors.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Assists the Commissioner of Public Works in planning new construction projects and other major department activities
Oversees the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, curbs and sidewalks
Oversees the construction, maintenance and repair of the water distribution and the storm and sanitary sewage collection system
Acts as liaison between the City and contractors to insure that contract obligations are met
Prepares estimates, specifications and plans for repairs and alterations to buildings and equipment
Coordinates with the City Engineer and the Assistant City Engineer regarding design and construction of building facilities
Coordinates with the Utilities Department with the inspection and installation of new and existing water lines
Performs construction inspections for sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water, roads and associated utilities for subdivisions, site plan PUC’s, and other similar projects including contract administration during the construction phase of the project
Measures and maps, for recording and mapping purposes, existing and newly constructed utilities to be maintained by the City

Required

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, engineering technology, or a closely related field; OR
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an Associate's degree in construction technology, mechanical technology, or closely related field and two years (24 months) of full time paid experience surveying, drafting, or related technical work; OR
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four years (48 months) of full time paid experience surveying, drafting, or related technical work
Must possess a valid NYS Driver's License and must maintain said license for the duration of employment
Degree must have been awarded by a college or university by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the US Department of Education/US Secretary of Education
If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency
