Director of Program Services
Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey has been serving adults with vision loss for 80 years, and they are seeking a Director of Program Services. This role involves coordinating and overseeing program staff, planning and executing programs, and ensuring the quality and organization of services for participants.

Responsibilities
Supervises all instructors, interns, teachers, and volunteers in the program department
Work with Program Staff to ensure that all programs meet desired outcomes
Participate in VLANJ’s management team, demonstrating a commitment to building cooperation and collaboration among all staff, programs, and departments
Ensure that daily programs are organized, planned, and run according to established curriculums
Welcomes, communicates and updates changes to participants at the start of each in-person program day
Responsible for ensuring that all program spaces are clean and organized for the safety of the program participants
In the absence of instructors, will facilitate/teach classes as necessary
Coordination transportation for participants via Access Link & shared ride services
Assist with morning and afternoon transportation needs by assisting people into and out of our facility
Facilitate virtual programs and identify and schedule guest speakers
Responsible for the intake coordination for new participants both in-person and virtual
Assist participants with coordination of transportation services as necessary
Develop and maintain program procedures and guidelines with the highest quality standards of practice by encouraging ethical and professional competency and conduct among program department staff
Conduct Performance Reviews with full-time and part-time program staff members, identifying goals and areas of development and/or improvement
Responsible for developing and conducting 'Awareness Training & Blindness Etiquette' for all instructors, staff and volunteers
Participate in community outreach educational programs focused on 'Awareness Training & Blindness Etiquette' as needed
Participate in efforts to strengthen and build partnerships with other organizations aimed at fostering the development of collaborative projects
Plan, facilitate, and execute Orientation & Mobility community excursions throughout the year
Attend Board meetings as necessary to educate Board members about VLANJ programs, community needs, program recommendations, and provide outcomes and evaluation reports on the impact of the VLANJ’s programs and services
Any & all other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Qualification
Required
2-year or 4-year degree preferably in areas of rehabilitation or healthcare
Experience working with adults with disabilities
Proficient computer skills. Familiarity with the Zoom virtual platform
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize responsibilities
Demonstrate initiative
Demonstrate a positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
Possess strong organizational and time management skills
Capable of handling multiple priorities
Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff, instructors, participants, family members, potential referral sources
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Possess effective teaching skills
