Responsibilities

Responsible for oncology billing processes and management of accounts receivable; requires extensive knowledge of oncology billing processes and medical software management; ensures processes and procedures meet University of South Alabama Health’s guidelines and adhere to billing laws; works closely with clinical staff to provide ongoing education of provider requirements and reimbursement guidelines; manages oncology business office employees and oncology accounts receivable; establishes ongoing processes and procedures for billing and collections in accordance with government, reimbursement and contract guidelines; maintains timely and accurate billing with a DSO of less than 45 days; participates actively in internal and external audits of billing processes from generation of medical record, EMR documentation, coding, billing, and collection of charges; ensures timely and accurate billing of patient accounts to include charge importation, claim filing, deposits reconciliation and balancing; stays abreast of changes in regulations and standards affecting billing and ensures appropriate practices are in place to guarantee compliance; provides reports, analysis, and participates in management meetings ensuring major issues are brought to the attention of senior management in a timely manner; provides financial data for month-end processing; supervises employees including hiring, disciplinary action and evaluation. Ensures appropriate orientation is provided for all newly hired staff and conducts competency assessment as required. Develops standards for monitoring quality and production levels for each area of responsibility and monitors progress on a continuing basis; conducts regular staff meetings in order to promote inter office communication. Listens to and considers problems and suggestions from employees; utilizes customer relations skills and always communicates professionally to establish and maintain positive relationships with all customers, internal and external; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict. Cooperates, helps and improves the performance of the unit; monitors and maintains a fiscally sound and productive department; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in Health Care Management or other related field
Five years of medical billing and accounts receivable experience
Three years of experience in a managerial capacity in a medical business office or oncology clinic
Extensive knowledge of oncology billing processes and medical software management
Ability to ensure processes and procedures meet University of South Alabama Health's guidelines and adhere to billing laws
Experience working closely with clinical staff to provide ongoing education of provider requirements and reimbursement guidelines
Ability to manage oncology business office employees and oncology accounts receivable
Establish ongoing processes and procedures for billing and collections in accordance with government, reimbursement and contract guidelines
Maintain timely and accurate billing with a DSO of less than 45 days
Participate actively in internal and external audits of billing processes
Ensure timely and accurate billing of patient accounts to include charge importation, claim filing, deposits reconciliation and balancing
