SENIOR EMPLOYEE RELATIONS SPECIALIST
The City of Houston is seeking a Senior Employee Relations Specialist to provide professional Human Resources support in coordinating and directing Employee Relations activities. The role involves maintaining positive relationships among employees, advising management on corrective actions, conducting investigations of employee misconduct, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities
Maintains and promotes positive relationships among inter-office as well as inter-departmental employees
Advises managers and supervisors on the positive corrective action program
Reviews and processes recommendations of corrective actions
Prepares, edits, and revises correspondence, documents, and reports as required
Processes Grievances, Employee Concerns and ensures compliance of related rules and procedures
Conducts investigations of employee misconduct and determines the appropriate course of action
Attends Indefinite Suspensions and Medical Separations meetings
Attends Civil Service Commission Appeal and Unemployment Hearings
Develops, interprets and recommends appropriate procedures for implementing policies to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with regulations
Provides training to client department on HR policies and updates
Coordinates responses to EEOC complaints
Performs other duties as assigned
Experience Assisting in ADA Accommodation
Qualification
Required
Requires a bachelor's degree in business administration, Social Science, Liberal Arts, or a closely related field
Three years of related professional experience in human resources are required
Pertinent experience at the professional level may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis
Preferred
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for
Experience Assisting In ADA Accommodation Is Highly Preferred
