UX Design Lead

HearthSim is seeking a sharp, creative UX Design Lead who can enhance user experiences for their CCG analytics platform. The role involves owning the user experience, mapping customer journeys, and collaborating with various teams to ensure a seamless and engaging user interface.

Responsibilities

Own the user experience across HSReplay.net, Untapped.gg and other key product surfaces
Map and optimize customer journeys to attract and convert all player types
Translate marketing and brand goals into clear UX flows that drive app downloads, account signups, and premium account conversions
Define priorities for mobile vs. desktop experiences and make CTAs crystal clear for each audience
Build wireframes, prototypes, and layout improvements using tools like Figma (or your preferred equivalent)
Own iterative redesigns of core pages (homepage, pricing, deck pages, onboarding, premium value messaging)
Identify UX friction points using analytics, heatmaps, and user behavior data, then propose structured solutions
Collaborate closely with the assigned developer to implement changes smoothly without shipping bottlenecks
Ensure new features or UI changes are easy to understand and properly communicated to players
Work with the marketing team to align UX with campaigns across email, ads, SEO, and creator channels
Collaborate with SEO to ensure UX updates support search performance without sacrificing clarity
Collaborate with the content & community manager to ensure UX fits the brand story, tone, and player education goals
Partner with the ad manager to ensure landing pages convert and creative aligns with on-page messaging
Stay dialed in to CCG community trends, frustrations, and expectations (Reddit, YouTube, Discord, etc.)
Evaluate competitor UX across different games and identify opportunities for Untapped to stand out
Gather player feedback and translate insights into actionable UX improvements
Understand how different player types (new, returning, competitive) move through the site and where they drop off
Own UX audits, documentation, prototypes, and rollout plans
Manage deadlines and coordinate with devs, marketing, and leadership to keep improvements moving
Ensure the website is always up-to-date with clear product value communication, strong onboarding, and intuitive navigation
Champion accessibility, clarity, and simplicity in all UX decisions

Required

You're a CCG player with real experience in Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering, and at least a casual familiarity with the other
You have strong UX fundamentals and have built or improved customer journeys before
An understanding of UI principles and design systems, with the ability to collaborate closely with visual designers
You're comfortable creating wireframes and prototypes in Figma (or similar tools)
Using documentation and collaboration tools (Notion) to support research, decision-making, and alignment
Experience with either FigJam / Miro / Whimsical
You think in flows, systems, and logic, not just visuals
You understand how to communicate value clearly to both hardcore players and newcomers who may feel overwhelmed
You enjoy collaborating with marketing, developers, and creators to deliver unified experiences
You're comfortable using analytics tools and testing different UX variations to improve metrics
You can explain design decisions clearly without jargon
Education: Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Digital Media, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience designing, prototyping, and improving real digital experiences

Preferred

Experience with game analytics or SaaS-style onboarding is a plus
Bonus: you've worked with CMS systems and understand SEO-friendly page structure and content architecture
