Responsibilities

Oversee and manage full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely processing, accurate coding, and compliance with internal controls
Support AP/AR close activities, including accruals and reconciliations
Lead monthly and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data for management review and reporting
Reconcile job cost accounts and ensure proper posting to the general ledger
Assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and over/under billing reconciliations
Analyze gross margin fluctuations and provide explanations to management
Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits
Prepare and submit sales and use tax filings across multiple states
Assist with tax-related needs related to construction projects
Ensure adherence to internal controls, U.S. GAAP, and construction accounting standards, including revenue recognition
Partner with project managers, superintendents, and operations teams to support accurate cost tracking and financial transparency
Identify and support improvements to accounting processes, systems, and internal controls as the business scales
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support management decision-making
Perform ad hoc accounting tasks and special projects as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree required; Accounting, Finance, or related field strongly preferred
5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including experience in the construction industry
Senior-level experience managing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP with hands-on experience in construction accounting, including WIP and revenue recognition
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with financial and operational teams
Organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, start-up-like environment

Preferred

Experience with accounting and construction systems (e.g., Sage, Procore, Salesforce, Oracle Textura, Plexxis) preferred
Experience supporting multi-entity and multi-state operations preferred
Working knowledge of payroll practices preferred
