Wheelchair Repair Service Technician

The role involves diagnosing and repairing mobility equipment to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities, ensuring all equipment functions properly and safely while providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

Diagnosing equipment issues
Obtaining quotes for parts
Completing repairs efficiently
Maintaining rental and stock equipment
Ensuring equipment is clean, organized, and in reliable working order for customer use
Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop/warehouse
Keeping delivery vehicles in safe operating condition
Managing parts including receiving, storing, and shipping
Ensuring accurate inventory tracking
Completing documentation thoroughly and in a timely manner
Educating customers and caregivers on proper use, care, and safety of their equipment
Performing minor fittings and adjustments for equipment customization
Following all safety procedures and regulations
Participating in required in-service training

Required

Proficiency with hand and power tools for equipment repair
Basic knowledge of Word Processing, Email, and Internet applications
Problem-solving and quick decision-making abilities
Strong mechanical aptitude
Manual dexterity for equipment manipulation and repairs
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move equipment over 100 lbs
Physical endurance for standing, bending, and kneeling
Valid State Driver's License with satisfactory driving record
Effective communication skills for customer education
Organizational skills for inventory and parts management
Attention to detail for accurate documentation
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Time management skills for efficient service delivery
Basic understanding of electrical systems
High School diploma or GED required
Minimum of two years of relevant mechanical experience
Ability to pass a drug test as part of the hiring process

Preferred

Experience with medical equipment preferred
Experience with inventory management preferred
Experience with wheelchair repair highly desirable
Experience working in a repair or service environment
Experience with customer service or client interaction
Experience with documentation and record-keeping
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
