Safety Engineering Co-op
Southwire Company, LLC is one of North America’s largest wire and cable producers, and they are seeking a Safety Engineering Co-op to support their Health and Safety team. The role involves assisting with programs and initiatives to ensure workplace safety, analyzing trends, conducting compliance audits, and developing improvement plans.

Responsibilities
Develop and propose engineering controls such as machine guarding and fall protection enhancements
Conduct self-assessments and compliance audits aligned with OSHA standards
Learn and apply risk assessment methodologies to evaluate workplace hazards
Support development and delivery of safety training materials and programs
Participate in Kaizen events and hazard identification activities
Collect, analyze, and report safety data and incident trends
Help maintain safety documentation and compliance records
Research and recommend best practices to enhance workplace safety culture
Collaborate with team members on safety improvement projects and initiatives
Perform other safety-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum 2.5 GPA
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Environmental Health and Safety or Industrial Engineering
Reliable transportation to and from work
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or other relevant tools
Co-ops will complete 3 rotations for a 1.5 year commitment. The co-op will need to still be enrolled in school during these semesters to be eligible
Ability to work 40-hour work weeks during rotation
Willingness and ability to commit to a minimum of 3 rotations
