Corporate Counsel
Seneca Gaming Corporation is seeking a Corporate Counsel to provide legal advice and representation across various operational, risk management, and compliance activities. The role involves contract drafting, negotiation, and ensuring that all commercial arrangements protect the enterprise’s interests while supporting corporate governance and managing legal compliance issues.

Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements to protect the corporation’s legal, financial, regulatory, and sovereign interests
Support day-to-day corporate legal needs, including providing timely and accurate advice to operational departments, and assisting with corporate governance, policy development, and other general matters
Prepare memoranda, analyses and briefing materials, support strategic initiatives, and collaborate across departments and with executive leadership
Advise on gaming compliance issues, including compact and internal control requirements, liquor licenses, and interactions with regulators
Support enterprise risk management efforts, including reviews of insurance coverage and claims (including workers compensation), and risk-transfer strategies
Provide counsel on employment and benefits-related issues, including workforce policies, investigations, and benefits compliance
Provide legal support on procurement-related issues, marketing and entertainment contracts and initiatives, construction contracts, capital projects, real estate matters, and environmental issues
Assist with protection and management of trademarks and corporate intellectual property
Complete all required SGC training programs within the timeframe assigned
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment
Juris Doctorate required
Must be admitted to the bar as an active member in good standing in New York or another jurisdiction within the United States (New York is preferred)
Must have at least three (3) years of progressively responsible legal experience, including private practice experience either in-house or for a global, national or regional law firm
Must have proficient basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office and similar software tools
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to substantiate a safe driving record within the parameters acceptable to the corporation's liability insurance carrier
Excellent analytical, writing and drafting skills, with a sharp attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information with clarity
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities and deadlines
Strong professional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels
Strong commitment to ethical conduct and standards
Demonstrate ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to carry assigned tasks through to completion
Demonstrate ability to exercise sound judgment in complex and time-sensitive situations
Preferred
Prior contract review, in-house, casino industry, federal Indian law, or tribal enterprise experience preferred
