I&C/Telecom/LSS Commissioning Engineer

Responsibilities

Lead and execute commissioning activities for Telecom, Life Safety Systems (LSS), and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) systems from pre-functional testing
Review design documents, specifications, drawings, and submittals to verify systems are installed in accordance with project, client, and code requirements
Develop, review, and execute commissioning plans, scripts, and procedures for Fire Alarm and Mass Notification Systems, Telecom Systems, Access Control and Video Surveillance (CCTV), Structured Cabling and Network Infrastructure, and BAS/BMS interfaces and field instrumentation
Perform field inspections, system walkdowns, and verification testing to confirm installation completeness and readiness for startup
Coordinate end-to-end testing activities with contractors, vendors, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and client representatives, including witness testing and final acceptance
Verify network architecture, addressing, signal flow, grounding, labeling, and redundancy in compliance with applicable standards
Ensure systems comply with relevant codes and standards including NFPA, NEC, TIA/EIA, ISA, IEEE, and local AHJ requirements
Document and track deficiencies, punch list items, and commissioning issues, ensuring timely resolution and closure
Maintain accurate commissioning documentation including test results, redlines, as-built records, and turnover packages
Support startup, cutover, and transition to operations to ensure systems are fully functional and operationally ready
Collaborate with construction, quality, safety, and operations teams to maintain schedule, safety, and quality objectives
Participate in client meetings, commissioning reviews, and progress reporting, providing clear technical updates and risk mitigation strategies

Required

Strong technical knowledge of Telecom, Life Safety, and Instrumentation & Controls systems and their integration
Proven experience leading commissioning activities through integrated system testing and acceptance
Ability to interpret design documents, specifications, codes, and industry standards
Strong troubleshooting skills across networked, low-voltage, and control system environments
Effective communication skills for coordinating with clients, contractors, vendors, and AHJs
Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities in fast-paced project environments
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, Telecommunications, or related technical field preferred
Relevant certifications are a plus: NICET (Fire Alarm or Systems), CFPS, ETL, or manufacturer certifications, OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E
