Shared Capabilities Director

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a Shared Capabilities Director to lead the team responsible for providing shared capabilities across the Workday and Enterprise Solutions Team. Responsibilities

May perform manager functions through subordinate managers
Advises institutional or divisional leadership on enterprise information technology operations and business models
Develops operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and objectives
Serves as the primary liaison representing the interests to internal and external stakeholders for enterprise IT services
Provide leadership in support of continuous improvement, a customer service focus and the delivery of high quality, secure and reliable services
Develops and audits the budget
Directs strategic information technology planning initiatives and establishes objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources in alignment with the strategic plan
Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
Contributes to a culture of open engagement and inclusion. Builds positive relationships with executive leaders, stakeholders, peers, and team members

Required

Strategic and Innovative Thinking – Experience in strategy development and developing innovative approaches to meet business objectives. Able to combine strategy with operational needs and relevant details
Communication –Experience in effectively communicating with a wide variety of audiences, presenting effectively in varied settings and modalities
Business and Political Acumen – Experience in developing a solid understanding of how an organization's business objectives are influenced by industry drivers and trends. Experience working with stakeholders who may have diverging interests, understanding how an organization operates and how to effectively navigate within the environment
Management – Experience effectively managing people and resources, successfully achieving outcomes and providing high quality customer service
Organizational context – Familiarity with the complex needs and challenges of a multi-university system that includes a system office and a flagship research university

Leadership and Teamwork – Experience leading teams, modelling positive leadership characteristics, and creating an environment that allows the team to succeed.
