The State of South Carolina is seeking a Network Technician II to assist with various network projects and provide operational support for network devices. The role includes hardware deployment, configuration, and inventory management, as well as support for specialized technologies.

Responsibilities

Assist with various network projects to include hardware deployment, configuration, and inventory

Provide operational support for network devices and specialized technologies such as telephony, cellular, and audio/visual

Assist with the hardware deployment and configuration of network devices such as routers, switches, and wireless access points

Assist with the support of the Agency's telephony, cellular, and cable services

Assist with the support of the Agency's specialized technologies such as audio/visual and access control

Perform operational tasks related to enabling/disabling network devices and/or troubleshooting issues

Perform periodic maintenance and lifecycle replacement on applicable infrastructure hardware such as Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) equipment

Ensure the accountability/inventory of infrastructure hardware, tools, and supplies

Collect data and prepare/maintain documents related to network devices, configurations, and/or network projects

Disassemble and prepare retired equipment for disposal

Perform other duties (pertinent to the function, authority, and responsibility of the position) as assigned

Required

A high school diploma and experience in information technology, electronics technology systems, or other related areas

An associate degree or bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience

Basic to moderately complex knowledge of data network services and data communications

Moderately complex to complex knowledge of methods of data network design and equipment configuration requirements

Moderately complex to complex knowledge of office automation systems, information processing operations, fiber optics, and microcomputer hardware/software as they relate to the latest trends in data networks connectivity

Moderately complex to complex knowledge of computer system analysis, design, testing, debugging, and maintenance techniques

Ability to assist with presenting technical and non-technical reports in a clear and concise manner
