Principal User Experience Designer

Responsibilities
Define and influence UX strategy across multiple products and initiatives
Lead experience design for highly complex, high-impact, or ambiguous problem spaces
Partner with senior leaders, Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to align UX with organizational goals
Advocate for the user at a strategic level, balancing customer needs with business outcomes
Establish best practices, standards, and frameworks for UX design and research
Guide and mentor designers through critique, coaching, and thought leadership
Plan and oversee advanced research efforts, ensuring insights inform product strategy
Synthesize complex qualitative and quantitative data into actionable insights
Present compelling experience visions, design strategies, and research findings to executive audiences
Ensure consistency, quality, and accessibility across digital experiences
Drive evolution of the Design System and contribute to long-term scalability
Stay informed on emerging UX trends, tools, and accessibility standards
Qualification
Required
9–12 years of related user experience design experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company
Strong interpersonal skills. An ability to relate to and interact with other people in a friendly, professional manner
Ability to identify problems, develop and execute solutions
Highly skilled and knowledgeable with designing accessible WCAG-compliant experiences
Preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
