Insurance Defense/Personal Injury Attorney – 7-9+ years’ experience
Miller Miller Gerber LLP is an Orange County litigation and transactional boutique seeking an experienced attorney to manage an insurance defense/personal injury docket. The role involves preparing and arguing motions, drafting discovery, taking depositions, and negotiating settlements for a fast-paced docket of approximately 50 cases.
Law Practice
Responsibilities
Prepare motions, oppositions to motions, and reply briefs, and attend hearings before judicial officers in state courts and arbitration forums
Prepare for and take depositions
Prepare discovery requests, discovery responses, and subpoenas
Review and analyze documents produced by opposing counsel and documents provided by clients and third parties
Prepare settlement agreements
Prepare pretrial documents, motions and deposition summaries
Conduct •voir dire•, present opening and closing statements, and examine and cross-examine witnesses at trial
Work closely with the client to develop strategies for higher-value cases and running lower value cases independently
Interact with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses and court personnel in a manner that reflects favorably on our clients and the firm
Research case law and statutes
Supervise associates, paralegals and legal assistants with courtesy and professionalism
Enter billable time promptly and accurately
Qualification
Required
7-9+ years' experience in insurance defense/personal injury law
Active California State Bar License
J.D. from an accredited law school
Excellence in preparing and arguing motions
Excellence in drafting discovery
Excellence in taking depositions
Excellence in preparing pretrial documents
Excellence in negotiating settlements or taking cases through trial
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with insurance adjusters, witnesses, and medical providers
Respectful approach to supervising hybrid/remote associates and staff
Ability to prepare motions, oppositions to motions, and reply briefs
Ability to attend hearings before judicial officers in state courts and arbitration forums
Ability to prepare discovery requests, discovery responses, and subpoenas
Ability to review and analyze documents produced by opposing counsel and documents provided by clients and third parties
Ability to prepare settlement agreements
Ability to prepare pretrial documents, motions and deposition summaries
