Responsibilities
Act as the senior technical resource and escalation point for infrastructure-related issues and outages
Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to a team of two IT engineers/support professionals
Establish and maintain infrastructure standards, operational procedures, and technical documentation
Participate in IT planning, budgeting, and governance discussions in partnership with Finance leadership
Design, build, and maintain server, network, storage, and virtualization environments to ensure performance, availability, and scalability
Own the deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of core infrastructure platforms
Provide infrastructure-level support for Sage X3 and Maximizer CRM, including access management, server performance monitoring, and coordination with third-party application consultants
Lead infrastructure upgrades, platform refreshes, and technology improvement initiatives
Perform root-cause analysis and implement preventative measures following incidents or outages
Administer and support Active Directory, Azure AD, Microsoft 365, and hybrid cloud environments
Engineer and maintain virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), backup and recovery systems, and monitoring solutions
Implement and enforce security best practices across identity, access, patching, and system hardening
Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing
Identify opportunities for automation, scripting, and process optimization to improve system reliability and operational efficiency
Work with vendors and service providers to support infrastructure solutions and resolve technical issues
Assist with licensing, renewals, hardware/software procurement, and vendor evaluations
Provide technical input for infrastructure roadmaps and cost optimization initiatives
Qualification
Required
6–10+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or senior systems administration roles
Proven experience operating as a senior escalation point in a production environment
Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), networking fundamentals, storage, and backup technologies
Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments using Azure and Microsoft 365
Solid understanding of security best practices for enterprise infrastructure
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred
Relevant certifications preferred (Azure Administrator, VMware VCP, CCNA/CCNP, MCSE or equivalent)
