Financial Aid Analyst

Responsibilities
Demonstrates working knowledge of the Banner Student module as it relates to Financial Aid
Ability to execute Argos Reports or standard reports with accuracy and the ability to troubleshoot functional system problems and coordinate solutions
Demonstrates and applies an understanding of general skills and practices associated with Financial Aid and Department of Education Systems
Demonstrates the ability to develop solutions to meet the needs of the group
Demonstrates ability to develop project/solutions with regards to Banner and Financial Aid
Troubleshoots, updates, modifies, and analyzes information systems to ensure compliance with regulatory needs and changes
Proficient in the use of university and Department of Education applications (Banner, Argos, COD) or automated systems to perform job duties
Complies with related policies, procedures, and work rules to maintain system security and data integrity
Demonstrates ability to resolve some non-routine problems
Applies technical understanding to the resolution of problems of medium complexity
Demonstrates the insight to spot trends in reoccurring problems and assisting in developing solutions
Respectfully ascertains customer’s needs and determines appropriate response
Promptly responds by providing requested information, takes appropriate action, or refers customer to appropriate individual or department and advises customers of realistic timeframes for a response to their request
Follows up with customers on outstanding requests in a timely manner
Tactfully explains to customers why their needs and/or expectations cannot be met if the university does not provide the requested information or services
Communicate with all students, staff and customers as needed to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns
Strong attention to detail and documentation habits
Communicate orally and written clearly any pertinent technical problems/issues with the administration of Federal Student Aid
Have a thorough knowledge of financial aid functions and activities to explain in detail what is happening, why, and how to resolve problems
Ensures successful storage and retrieval of data across a variety of campus systems; ensures financial aid systems interface with other campus systems
Must have a thorough knowledge of all federal, state, and institutional policies, rules and regulations regarding financial aid administration
Learns and applies emerging technologies and, as necessary, to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner
Implement and retain Banner data storage plan for all Department of Education Files
Demonstrate effective management and organizational talents and the insight to set priorities within the context of established policies and procedures
Must be able to resolve problems and project a favorable impression of the University and the division to a multitude of constituencies
Ability to follow procedures and escalate appropriately
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
Thorough knowledge of Financial Aid Management principles and be able to adapt those principles to technology applications
Operationally oriented individual with technical orientation and previous clerical and production office experience is preferable
Must have an extensive understanding of the University culture and operations throughout the campus
Must have the ability to work collaboratively with other university units to identify and minimize risk while maximizing efficiency
