Senior Electrical Controls Engineer

Fives Lund LLC is actively seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team in Seattle, Washington. This role serves to research, develop, design and oversee the implementation of custom-engineered solutions for exceptional machines, analyzing complicated systems and proactively creating solutions to challenging problems.

Responsibilities

Produces well laid-out, organized, and referenced electrical schematics
Designs power cabinets, selects components, and sizes conductors for electrical panels
Programs PLCs, CNCs, and assorted industrial controllers to integrate motors, I/O, HMIs, and other components into functional machinery
Collaborates with mechanical engineers, purchasing agents, electricians and assembly technicians to build and deliver machines
Leads code-compliant risk assessments and integrates safety into every stage of the project
Manages project schedules and bid proposals as needed
Develops supplier scope of work (SSOW) documents for electrical contractors
Troubleshoots and debugs industrial automation systems
Anticipates project needs throughout its lifecycle
Interacts with customers remotely and at project sites as needed during commissioning and delivery
Trains/mentors junior engineers

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related subject
5 years experience required
Experience with servo systems, VFDs, Ethernet networks, PLC and HMI programming
Design of 480VAC as well as low-voltage cabinets and distribution systems
Understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Strong written and oral communication skills
Attention to detail
Willingness to take initiative

Preferred

7 years experience preferred
AutoCAD Electrical experience a plus
Work with multi-axis synchronized machinery a plus
PLC programming in Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and/or B&R development suites and other IEC 61131 environments a plus
