The University of California, Berkeley is a world-leading institution known for its academic and research excellence. They are seeking an Audio Visual Technical Specialist 4 to provide administrative, analytical, scheduling, sales and technical support for Berkeley Event Services and Berkeley Audio Visual, managing audiovisual programs and systems for campus events.

Responsibilities

Performs highly complex assessments of client requirements for events and advises on appropriate technology
Assesses current or emerging technology and advises on its appropriate use for teaching and/or AV production
Acts as key resource for the most complex and critical AV IT technology set-ups, equipment failures and most sensitive clients
Identifies and develops requirements and specific technical needs for most complex and significant events
Develops, documents and implements policy, processes and work flow for video-post production including digital editing, encoding, asset management, web distribution, intellectual property (IP) compliance, and communication with clients
Oversees standards and development of online support, user documentation and/or user requirements
Facilitating Departmental deliverables, responsible for moving them forward; prepares, edits and modifies documents including research reports, manuscripts, presentations and proposals
Manages small & medium projects such as process mapping and documentation
Ad-hoc projects and duties as assigned. These include providing support and managing the implementation and upkeep of all departmental client relationship management software
Analyze sales leads and identify prospective customers by developing awareness of the services provided by the BAV & Berkeley Event Services Team
Advise and specify appropriate and cost-effective equipment to be used for events and projects
Oversee preventative maintenance on equipment & inventory tracking
Develop and solicit competitive bids for equipment, purchase/replacement, capital projects, and special vendor services
Make recommendations on best value or best pricing
Assist in the preparation of a maintenance plan
Identify and advise leadership on both short-term and long-term maintenance and equipment needs
Serve as the on-site lead for maintenance projects and events as assigned during peak seasons
Applies advanced media concepts to evaluate event requirements and specific technical needs for most complex and significant events and projects
Communicates event/project requirements to staff
Analyzes and interprets intellectual property (IP) policy and law and ensures that media meets IP requirements
Leads and directs complex events. Researches and evaluates new technology. Recommends purchase of new technology systems including hardware, software and networked systems
Analyzes usage trends and user needs and advises on appropriate staffing requirements
Analyzes AV IT activities, units and functions and develops proposals affecting the ability of the unit to meet performance goals
Analyzes and develops costing, inventory and / or usage models for reporting and business planning
Advise and specify appropriate and cost-effective equipment to be used for events and projects

Develops training resources and plans with campuswide, medical center wide and/or institution-wide scope
Participates on campuswide, medical center or Office of the President committees in varied subject areas pertaining to technology for education, research, and video production, programming, distribution and preservation
On-site lead to technical staff that perform video production or post-production processes including digital editing, encoding, asset management, and communication with client on the most complex and significant projects
Establishes the unit's standards for post-production quality
May oversee the recruitment, technical direction, scheduling and management of temporary event production staffing; establishes and ensures work quality standards
Provides input to strategic planning for the department
Using subject matter knowledge, collects and prepares information for use in discussions, meetings of high-level management and external constituents
Regularly meets with client’s managers to assess customer service satisfaction and identify problem areas
Regularly meets with Berkeley Events Leadership team to discuss customer service issues and develop recommendations for resolution
Support the recruitment, hiring, training and orientation of the production technicians
Trains BAV staff on new administrative procedures related to delivering the highest form of customer satisfaction
Assist in maintaining a safe working environment
Ensure that necessary and appropriate stage safety training is regularly provided on schedule
Advise leadership of possible risks or hazards and participate in developing and implementing mitigations
Makes recommendations for addressing client concerns. Which may include educational material and training for client groups
