Assistant Vice President/ Vice President, Risk Management
BOC Aviation is seeking an Assistant Vice President or Vice President for Risk Management based in New York City. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting credit risk reviews, maintaining relationships with risk counterparties, and producing financial analyses and credit reports for the Board and Management Committee.
Responsibilities
Conducting formal credit risk and Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews of allocated airlines in the Americas region, as well as other counterparties as may be required from time to time, travelling to meet counterparties and undertake on site due diligence. Making firm recommendations based on their assessment and views
Producing accurate spreads of counterparty accounts and generating accurate credit ratings. Producing high quality financial analysis and credit reports for distribution to the Board and Management Committee as applicable. Maintaining a comprehensive database of counterparty financial information
Taking ownership of allocated risk counterparties, maintaining relationships with them, and conducting annual reviews. Being a centre of knowledge for the relevant airlines and other counterparties for which you are responsible
Leading cash collections and any restructuring activity for the accounts under your responsibility
Working independently to build knowledge of the industry and aviation markets in the Americas. Bringing this knowledge to bear in ongoing assessment and monitoring of individual and portfolio risks
Maintaining comprehensive, accurate and orderly records and files regarding all risk matters
Providing strong support for the Aircraft Leasing and Sales team, the Aircraft Sales team, and others in providing prompt responses to requests for views on risk, including the timely preparation of preliminary credit ratings of prospective customers (within 24 hours of receipt of financial statements)
Producing meeting reports within 24 hours following meetings with external parties
Being the subject matter expert for the Credit Rating Management System in the Americas, supporting the Regional Head (Americas, Europe and Africa), Risk Management to maintain the integrity of the System, and enhancing the intelligence delivered by the System
Monitoring the overall risk portfolio and routinely produce reports for general portfolio monitoring and for submission to the Board
Updating a monthly risk portfolio spreadsheet for preparation of regular scheduled reports including the monthly Directors’ Report, Senior Management Report, and Quarterly Risk Committee Reports
Implementing the Company’s KYC and AML policy as part of counterparty due diligence
Proposing and preparing policy or procedure enhancements as may be required from time to time
Completing other risk management and business analysis tasks assigned from time to time by Regional Head (Americas, Europe and Africa), Risk Management, Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Chief Commercial Officer (Asia Pacific & Middle East) or CEO & Managing Director
Qualification
Required
At least two years' experience (for AVP position) or five years' experience (for VP position) in the aviation or aircraft financing industry, banking, or rating agency, with a focus on airline credit or equity research
Strong self-motivation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and to drive tasks to completion
Ability to travel, sometimes at short notice, around ten times a year to visit airlines in the Americas region
Good inter-personal skills for building relationships with executives from diverse cultural backgrounds
Strong analytical and evaluation skills, with the capability to think independently
Solid verbal and written communication ability
Meticulous, with keen attention to details, while working in a fast-paced environment

Preferred
A relevant qualification such as an MSc in Finance or Aviation Finance, CFA, or ACCA would be advantageous
Verbal and written Chinese language skills are a plus, though not a requirement
