Responsibilities
Lead physics-based requirements definition, modeling and simulation, rather than based on industry standard compliance – a deep understanding of electromagnetic environmental and radiation effects is critical
Develop and own E3 and radiation effects analysis and mitigation across products, spanning LEO to deep space environments
Design and implement test campaigns (radiation, E3/EMI), including requirements flow-down interfacing with external test labs and facilities
Drive creation of internal tools, databases, and automated test frameworks for consistent capture and accessibility of effects and mitigations
Represent EMI/EMC/Radiation engineering in design reviews, trade studies, and program milestones
Interface with, teach, and collaborate with EE, ME, DSP, software and test engineers to architect robust designs, test and validate systems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
3+ years of professional experience in electromagnetic environmental effects (E3), EMC/EMI engineering, radiation effects (SEE, TID, DD) or related fields
3+ years of experience with radio test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generators, and network analyzers
Strong coding/scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
Demonstrated experience defining and executing E3 and/or radiation test campaigns
U.S. citizenship, lawful U.S. permanent resident status, or eligibility to secure the necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred
Advanced degree in electrical engineering, physics, or other engineering discipline
5+ years of professional experience in electromagnetic environmental effects (E3), EMC/EMI engineering, radiation effects or related fields
Experience with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-1542, FCC Radio and EMC standards, and requirements
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting EMI/EMC and/or radiation events from component to system level
Strong knowledge of E3 fundamentals, RF engineering, and electrical circuit analysis
