Pushnami is a fast-growing, Austin-based tech company powering personalized website notifications and monetization for over 10,000 sites globally. They are seeking a Senior Data Engineer who will build and maintain data infrastructure and Looker dashboards, utilizing AI coding tools as their primary development method.

Responsibilities

You will build and maintain data infrastructure, Looker dashboards, ETL pipelines, automations that solve real problems across Sales, Finance, Data Science, Product, and Operations

You will ship fast using AI tools (Claude Code). You'll write prompts & AI specs, manage context, verify output, and push to production with >95% of the implementation written by AI

You will create automations that multiply operations efficiency. You'll help identify opportunities and build the solutions

And you’ll partner with non-technical teams to translate their problems into data solutions and show & build what's possible

Required

AI-first workflow required. Daily use of Claude Code (preferred) or Codex. You know how to prompt effectively, manage context windows, build with security in mind, and know how to verify AI output against a spec. If you're not already working this way, this isn't the right fit

Deep Looker experience. LookML, dashboards, API integrations. You've built and maintained production Looker instances

Strong fundamentals. 5+ years in data engineering, analytics, or BI engineering. Python. Advanced SQL. AWS (Athena, Glue, Lambda, S3). Bachelor's or advanced degree in a technical field is a plus but not a requirement

High ownership. You find problems before they're assigned. You ship without waiting for permission

Clear communication. You can explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders without condescension

Austin-based, hybrid required. One day per week in office. We're building new processes together and being in the same room matters
