2025-2026 Child Development Technician II
Oklahoma City Public Schools is seeking a Child Development Technician II to provide direct care to infants and toddlers in their Early Childcare Program. This role involves maintaining licensing requirements, implementing curriculum, and fostering relationships with children and parents.
Education
Responsibilities
Acts as lead Teacher for the classroom
Works cooperatively with participants to meet all Oklahoma licensing requirements and Early Head Start Standards as applies
Implements curriculum in the classroom to meet the needs of the child(ren)
Maintains daily records for each child in the center (attendance, behavior and growth observations) and center activities
Maintains daily plan of activities in the classroom
Maintains materials and equipment and reports to the Center Director (Team Leader) when equipment needs repair
Promotes the overall effectiveness of the center by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities designated by the director/team leader during peak periods, or fill in when an individual is away from the center
Maintains an active but orderly center appearance and learning environment indoors and outdoors
Develops a positive relationship between the center, children, parents, faculty, and the community
Assumes an equal share of housekeeping and laundry duties
Works cooperatively with all participants to create a positive center environment
Attends all center activities, including staff meetings, parent meetings and trainings
Identifies and reports inconsistencies in physical and behavioral characteristics in children and parents
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associates degree in Early Childhood or 60 hours college credit in Health, Child Development, Elementary Education or other relevant courses
Previous experience working with young children
Two (2) years experience working with children in a daycare or school setting
Ability to work with at-risk families
Knowledge and clear understanding of infant and toddler development and of behavior management with young children
Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
Exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer
Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone
Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
Physical agility, able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach
Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds
