Senior Legal Counsel of Employment Law
Addison Group is seeking a Senior Director of Employment Law to provide strategic legal support across labor, employment, and occupational safety matters. This role involves managing complex legal matters, advising stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations.
Responsibilities
Manage labor and employment litigation matters, including case strategy, oversight of outside counsel, and monitoring legal progress
Advise on employee and guest claims, partnering with Human Resources and Risk Management to proactively mitigate incidents
Provide guidance on labor and employment law, occupational safety, regulatory compliance, and law enforcement inquiries
Collaborate with business leaders to identify and implement risk reduction strategies and support executive decision-making
Work with enterprise-level legal teams to align company legal strategies with broader organizational labor, employment, and compliance initiatives
Coordinate reporting on litigation, employment, and compliance matters, including exposure analysis and updates on material legal developments
Partner with Security teams to develop policies and procedures in alignment with operational readiness and occupational safety requirements
Serve as a trusted legal advisor to HR on employment and labor matters, including employee relations, accommodations, performance management, and dispute resolution
Develop and implement policies and procedures to minimize legal and operational risk
Oversee internal investigations to ensure legal privilege and provide strategic recommendations on outcomes
Design and deliver training programs to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards
Simplify complex legal issues for non-legal stakeholders and provide actionable guidance across departments
Manage discovery processes, including document review and production, for internal and external matters
Review and approve standard motions, filings, and litigation-related documents
Mentor and support junior legal team members
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent professional legal degree
Minimum of 6 years of legal practice, including at least 2 years of in-house experience in labor, employment, or risk management law
Strong experience in employment litigation, labor relations, wage and hour compliance, and workplace safety regulations
Proven ability to provide strategic counsel on complex HR, safety, and regulatory matters
Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Preferred
Experience leading or managing legal and/or compliance teams
