Responsibilities

Performs accounting functions for assigned area of responsibility in accordance with GAAP, organizational policy and procedures, and applicable federal and state legislation
Reconciles assigned funds and accounts; researches discrepancies and non-reconciliation of accounts
Assists with annual audit; provides technical support and advice; updates fiscal manual for Program staff periodically
Evaluates supporting documentation for Program invoices to ensure expenditures are within fiscal and contractual guidelines; reviews general ledger for accuracy periodically
Assists staff with financial/fiscal issues in reference to programs, and provides same with assistance in timely submission of required fiscal/financial information/data
Collaborates in the production of financial statements
Updates spreadsheet with amendment and adjustment information to produce accurate program invoices
Maintains revenue log categorizing funds received
Performs data entry of financial activities for assigned area of responsibility; verifies and reconciles accuracy of data entered
Prepares and distributes routine and recurring reports and special reports as required
Performs routine office tasks such as typing, filing, faxing, telephoning and photocopying
Attends staff meetings to exchange information; attends in-service training and technical or professional classes, seminars or conferences to improve professional skills

Required

Requires bachelor's degree in business management, finance, accounting, or closely related field
Requires over two years and up to and including four years of experience
Requires summarizing, tabulating, or formatting data or information in accordance with a prescribed schema or plan to facilitate the identification and extraction of useful information
Requires professional level work requiring the application of accounting, legal or managerial methods in the solution of accounting, administrative or legal problems
Requires extensive understanding of operating policies and procedures and ability to apply these to complex problems
Requires continuous, close attention for accurate results with frequent exposure to unusual pressures
Requires basic algebra involving variables and formulas, and computing discounts and interest rates, ratios, rates, and percents
Requires giving information, guidance, or assistance to people to directly facilitate task accomplishment
May give instructions or assignments to helpers or assistants
Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis and routine keyboard operations
The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking
