Responsibilities
Lead the full accounting function for multiple client engagements
Oversee A/P, A/R, payroll, cash management, treasury, and revenue recognition
Own month-end close and deliver timely, accurate financial statements
Ensure GAAP compliance across revenue, accruals, leases, inventory, commissions, depreciation, and new standards
Prepare weekly cash reporting and 13-week cash flow forecasts when needed
Partner with tax advisors to support federal, state, and local compliance
Serve as primary contact for auditors and manage PBC processes
Design and improve accounting policies, internal controls, SOX documentation, and SOPs
Restructure and maintain charts of accounts
Develop budgets, forecasts, KPI dashboards, and management reporting
Lead ERP, reporting, and financial systems implementations and upgrades
Manage and mentor Accounting Managers and finance staff (internal and external)
Support clients with working capital optimization and financial strategy
Participate in M&A, fundraising, and liquidity events as needed
Collaborate with senior leadership and client executives as a strategic advisor
Contribute to business development and client expansion initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
3–5+ years in a senior leadership role (Controller, VP of Finance, Head of Accounting, etc.)
Strong experience managing month-end close, audits, and accounting operations
Advanced GAAP knowledge
Strong ERP and accounting systems expertise
Advanced Excel skills
Proficient in MS Office
Proven team leader and mentor
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong project management and ability to manage multiple deadlines
Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Collaborative, client-focused mindset
Comfortable working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
Preferred
MBA, Master's in Accounting, or CPA strongly preferred
CPA preferred (active or inactive acceptable)
Experience across multiple industries preferred
Background in public and/or private accounting
Experience with ERP implementations and process improvement
M&A transactions
Fundraising (debt and/or equity)
Liquidity events (company sale, recapitalization, etc.)
Working with tax professionals
