They are seeking a Principal Staff Software Engineer to take ownership of their platform's evolution, focusing on architectural decisions, code quality, and mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities

Own the strategy for refactoring and modernizing our legacy codebase

Architect and optimize the integrations between our frontend platform and the Magento (PHP) backend

Implement and advocate for security best practices across the entire platform

Take a leading role in designing and building major new features, including our upcoming secondary marketplace and sophisticated data integration products

Act as a technical mentor for other engineers through thoughtful code reviews, pair programming, and creating clear technical documentation

Required

Significant experience as a Senior, Staff, or Principal Software Engineer, with a track record of owning large, complex projects from concept to completion

Deep, hands-on expertise in React and Next.js

Strong understanding of backend technologies (Magento & PHP experience is a huge bonus) and designing/consuming GraphQL/REST APIs

Experience building or overseeing mobile applications, ideally with cross-platform tools like Capacitor, React Native, or Flutter

Comfortable designing system architecture and data models as well as writing elegant, production-grade code

Ability to take ownership of a problem space and deliver outstanding results

Excited by the challenge of unlocking the value in unique user and horse data

Interest in AI-assisted development and automation to enhance the effectiveness of the team
