Monroe County is seeking an Assistant Engineer for their Transportation Department. This entry-level engineering position involves assisting with the design and study of municipal facilities and components of various municipal engineering projects.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Assisting with the design and study of municipal facilities

Responsible for components of municipal engineering projects and programs

Work may involve areas of traffic engineering, highway, bridges, stormwater, environmental, wastewater, construction, or other municipal engineering fields

Reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of an Engineer or other higher-level staff member

General supervision may be exercised over Junior Engineers, Engineering Aides, and Engineering Technicians

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in engineeringConstruction managementMunicipal engineeringTraffic engineeringEnvironmental engineering

Required

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma

Graduation with a Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a closely related field

Graduation with an Associate's degree in one of the fields mentioned in (A) above, plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in engineering

Four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience defined in (B) above

An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above
