Responsibilities

This position will provide support for the accounting activities and financial reporting associated with maintaining the operational and non-operational activities for the Divisions of Hematology, Infectious Disease and Rheumatology, which will include:
Budget development and monitoring of actual financial activities associated with divisional budgets, both SOM and DHIP to include performing monthly variance reporting
Prepare trend analyses and report on programs (DACON/DASON) within the noted divisions including but not limited to external contracts and or contracts related to DHIP operations and DUHS agreements. Investigate trends that may require intervention
Prepare financial projections of the operational activities of the department –forecasting various revenue and expense line items and development of financial models as needed
Provide oversight into discretionary spending and monitoring of overdrafts
Perform revenue management activities associated with the DASON and DACON program in the Division of Infectious Disease working closely with Outreach Hospitals for invoicing, quarterly analysis and reporting on operational performance
Develop and maintain Hospital contract tracking, outlining payment terms & fees, status of collection and other key financial aspects of performance of the Hospital outreach contracts
Identify areas for improved business process performance and use of data analytics for timely decision making for Director of DACON/DASON and Director of Outreach Strategy, Contract Analytics & Financial Operations
Oversee procurement responsibilities to include creation of purchasing requisitions for outside services, particularly associated with DACON/DASON. Responsibilities include supporting SOM requests for investigating or resolving any problem purchase orders or AP Check requests for each of the Divisions noted
Work with divisional leadership on assessment of key data metrics associated with contract analysis, revenue management and or business process improvement projects
Perform monthly and year end closing process for the divisions to include processing of journal entries and review and approval of expenditures on any and all types of fund codes across the department ensuring the proper funds flow occurs
Work collaboratively with AD in data gathering and developing the divisional strategic hiring and manpower plans to include creation of 3- year profit and loss proformas for Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers
Provide DOM Senior Leadership with Ad hoc reporting and analysis and assist with special projects assigned by leadership in terms of financial analysis and monitoring of activities within the Department
This position will coordinate and participate in SOM’s monthly/quarterly FAM analysis and reconciliation processing along with overdraft management on codes within the department
Develop Fellow fund projections; tracking all external funding and coverage of FTEs ensuring Program Directors are fully aware of spending levels and coverage needs of costs. Requires interaction with DOM Finance office and Fellowship Coordinator and Program Director to review finances and projections
Assist in the development, implementation and management of financial systems, and our financial policies and procedures as appropriate
This position will interact on a regular basis with divisional administrative staff and DOM central offices such as finance, HR & APT along with finance offices within the DHIP and School of Medicine
Serve as backfill support for other divisional financial staff within the Department of Medicine if needed on various activities to include processing of iforms, PDC payroll activities, journal entry processing, monitoring of Concur expenditures etc
Assistance with requesting appropriate SAP/R3 security access across the specific divisions being supported on various systems used by staff

Required

Work requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or Business-related fields
Requires a minimum of six years in financial management and analysis including financial reporting and use of various general ledger and database systems
Demonstrated financial knowledge and expertise with using general ledger systems and working with large volumes of data from various systems
Strong accounting skills with attention to details and ability to analyze financial data and present results in concise and clear manner in reports for management use
Strong analytical skills combined with investigative and curious mindset to problem solve
A critical thinker with the ability to understand complex processes and evaluate solutions
Financial statement preparation, interpretation and analysis
Proven experience with business planning and project management
Ability to work both as an integral part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Integrated systems- SAP applications
Mastery of Microsoft Office Applications, especially MS Excel, understanding advanced excel formulas, pivot tables, and graphs
Excellent written, oral and conversational skills to effectively work with diverse groups

Preferred

CPA or master's degree is preferable
Proficiency with BW and Tableau is added value
