Responsibilities

Edit high-quality video content for digital, social, and paid platforms, ensuring alignment with campaign messaging, tone, and brand standards
Own post-production workflows end-to-end, including footage organization, syncing, rough and fine cuts, color correction, sound design, captioning, and final exports in multiple formats
Collaborate with the Digital Director to shape narratives, pacing, and visual style across campaign content
Design and integrate motion graphics and visual elements such as lower thirds, subtitles, simple animations, and graphic treatments to enhance storytelling and clarity
Turn around rapid-response and timely content—often within 24 hours—in response to breaking news or campaign priorities
Incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders efficiently while maintaining creative integrity and strong editorial judgment
Support on-the-ground production as needed, including occasional shooting, sound recording, or assisting with field production

Qualification

Required

Strong editing instincts with a demonstrated ability to craft compelling, emotionally resonant visual stories
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (required)
Solid understanding of social media platforms and best practices for aspect ratios, runtimes, captions, and audience engagement
Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities under tight deadlines
A minimum of 3 years work experience in video production, editing required, and a minimum of 1 year in a campaign related role preferred
Must have transportation to attend events as needed
Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive
Willingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions
Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail
Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate
Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways
Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability

Preferred

Motion graphics or graphic design experience (e.g., After Effects, animated text, lower thirds, subtitles, social templates)
Experience editing for political campaigns or advocacy organizations
Familiarity with rapid-response workflows, approvals, and compliance processes
Experience filming or editing content featuring a principal candidate
Experience working on statewide or national races, particularly in Michigan
Graphic design experience a strong plus
