Responsibilities

You will participate in the policy and decision-making process and provide guidance to the Commandant of the Marine Corps and high-level officials
You will provide leadership and direction for the Marine Corps Safety Program
You will represent the Marine Corps on safety matters within existing guidelines
You will develop, establish, and integrate short and long-term plans, policies, and goals

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You must be willing to accept a managerial position
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Participating in policy and decision making processes to include providing guidance to executives or senior leaders; AND planning, developing policy, directing, exercising staff supervision, OR evaluating a safety program for a large organization or enterprise
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Major study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology
