HR Advisor

Go Ahead London is seeking an HR Advisor to act as a trusted partner to managers, providing practical HR advice on various people matters. The role involves managing employee relations cases and supporting managers through formal processes, ensuring policies are applied fairly and consistently.

Responsibilities

Providing first-line HR advice to managers on absence, conduct, performance, probation and attendance
Managing your own employee relations caseload, including disciplinary and grievance cases
Supporting managers through formal processes — from investigations to hearings and outcomes
Will be asked to attend some ER meetings to offer professional guidance and challenge where appropriate
Supporting sickness absence management, welfare meetings and return-to-work planning
Working closely with HR Administrators while retaining ownership of advisory responsibilities
Spotting emerging people risks or trends and escalating appropriately
Contributing ideas, insight and energy to People & Culture projects and initiatives
Playing an active role in embedding the Go-Ahead Way across the business

Required

Proven experience in an HR Advisory, HR Coordinator or similar role
A solid working knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application
Experience managing employee relations cases independently
The confidence to advise and influence managers in a professional, pragmatic way
Strong communication skills and sound judgement
The ability to stay calm and balanced when handling sensitive or challenging issues

Preferred

Experience in a unionised and/or operational environment (desirable)
CIPD Level 3 or 5 (or working towards) or an appropriate qualification
