Responsibilities

Ability to create compelling designs, concepts, and sample layouts for library programs, signage, and services. You’ll apply expert knowledge of layout principles to determine the size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selecting the perfect style and size of type to engage our customers
Ability to use design, photo, and video software to generate fresh visual content
Help ensure brand guidelines are consistent throughout all visual communications, developing graphics, logos, and illustrations that reflect DPL’s mission
Coordinate with internal library stakeholders from the initial concept phase through project completion. You’ll collaborate with staff to produce engaging designs and plan the best presentation of library materials and services

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communications, Graphic Arts, Graphic Design, Multimedia Design or a related field of study
Three (3) years of experience in graphic design or developing visual materials or signage design. Two of the three years must be experience in computer aided design and publication
Ability to create compelling designs, concepts, and sample layouts for library programs, signage, and services
Ability to use design, photo, and video software to generate fresh visual content
Help ensure brand guidelines are consistent throughout all visual communications, developing graphics, logos, and illustrations that reflect DPL's mission
Coordinate with internal library stakeholders from the initial concept phase through project completion
Deep knowledge of design concepts and the ability to draw/print charts, graphs, and original artwork using professional software
Proficiency in video production tools and photo-editing software, with the ability to pivot between digital graphics and physical print layouts
A desire to represent the library at public events and a commitment to creating inclusive visual content that serves all Denver residents
Understanding of the assembly and preparation of final layouts for printing, including the ability to provide detailed technical instructions for print production
A keen eye for detail to ensure all visual communications strictly adhere to organizational brand guidelines
Experience coordinating with internal stakeholders from the concept phase through project completion, including the ability to present rough sketches and iterate based on feedback
Knowledge of usage rights and permissions when collaborating with community members and sourcing footage

Preferred

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
Professional experience using Canva
