Supervisor - Patient Access

Responsibilities

Direct and coordinate the daily activities of Patient Access team members to ensure efficient workflow and high‑quality service
Manage staffing schedules to ensure proper coverage across all shifts; provide onboarding, training, and ongoing staff development
Oversee and support timely, accurate, and customer‑focused admission processes
Serve as the primary liaison between internal departments and external partners, promoting streamlined processes and ensuring required documentation is obtained prior to service
Explain admission‑related forms to patients, including conditions of admission, patient rights and responsibilities, advanced directives, and privacy practices
Maintain strong knowledge of billing processes and managed care contracts to accurately explain patient benefits and financial obligations
Address escalated patient questions or concerns with professionalism, empathy, and prompt follow‑through
Communicate across departments to verify complete and accurate registrations; provide staff coaching and corrective actions when needed
Assist with admitting patients for outpatient surgical and minor procedures
Track and report patient satisfaction scores related to the registration function; recommend and implement improvements
Assist with developing departmental goals and objectives and implementing policies and procedures
Collaborate with the Manager of Business Operations to identify and implement technology solutions that enhance patient access efficiency and customer service
Role model Just Culture principles and organizational values
Maintain HIPAA compliance and perform additional duties as assigned

Required

Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience in a patient access environment required
Must demonstrate the ability to manage the operational flow of a medical setting and exercise critical decision‑making to meet operational goals
