Responsibilities

Develops and maintains the company’s standard prototype architectural and engineering designs, including floor plans, elevations, sections, structural systems, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) integrations, and site layouts for freestanding, in-line, and non-traditional locations

Adapts prototype designs to specific sites, ensuring compliance with local building codes, ADA requirements, zoning regulations, health department standards, and other regulatory mandates while preserving brand consistency and operational functionality

Collaborates with internal teams (Design, Operations, Construction, Real Estate) and external consultants to incorporate feedback on layout efficiency, equipment integration, guest experience, and cost optimization into prototype evolutions

Conducts research on industry trends, materials, sustainable practices, and technological advancements to innovate and improve prototype designs, including operational enhancements and brand evolution

Prepares detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents using CAD/Revit software; coordinates with engineers for structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing details

Supports the evaluation and selection of building materials and systems in collaboration with Purchasing/Logistics, focusing on durability, maintenance, cost, and alignment with brand standards

Facilitates prototype reviews, presentations to leadership, and participation in Concept Task Force or design committees to align on strategic direction

Ensures prototype designs balance aesthetic appeal, functional efficiency, regulatory compliance, and total cost of ownership

Required

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or related field required

7+ years of architectural design and engineering experience, preferably in multi-unit retail/hospitality or restaurant environment, with a focus on prototype development and site adaptations

Obtaining a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment is a requirement of this position

If hired, completion of annual store training

Preferred

Professional licensure (e.g., Registered Architect) and Master's degree preferred
