Tax Program Representative
The State of South Dakota is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to serve as a Tax Program Representative. This role involves conducting investigations and enforcing compliance with state laws related to the Reemployment Assistance Program, including establishing employer accounts and ensuring timely submission of wage reports and state taxes.

Responsibilities
Establishing new employer accounts
Ensuring timely and accurate submission of quarterly wage reports and state taxes
Investigating discrepancies in wages and earnings, including following up on tips or leads
Communicating directly with employers to gather information and ensure compliance
Participating in collection processes to recover payments due
Qualification
Required
Conduct investigations and enforce compliance with state laws, rules, and regulations related to the Reemployment Assistance Program
Establish new employer accounts
Ensure timely and accurate submission of quarterly wage reports and state taxes
Investigate discrepancies in wages and earnings, including following up on tips or leads
Communicate directly with employers to gather information and ensure compliance
Participate in collection processes to recover payments due
Self-motivated, capable of working independently, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Interpret and apply information, laws, and rules
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to include grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Communicate information clearly and concisely
Deal tactfully with others
Comfortable working with numbers and compare figures accurately
Analyze and interpret financial records
Apply critical thinking in complex situations
Formulate logical and reasonable conclusions from available information
Work independently
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public
Pay attention to detail
Travel (minimally required)
Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation
All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete an Employment Eligibility Verification, Form I-9
Preferred
A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required
Knowledge of principles and procedures of accounting
Knowledge of business management practices
Knowledge of collection techniques
Knowledge of computer and software applications
