Claims Adjuster II/III
ACWA JPIA is seeking a Claims Adjuster II/III to provide accounting support to the Fiscal Office staff. The role involves performing various paraprofessional accounting tasks, including data entry of accounting transactions and handling claims management within the Colorado Benefits Management System.

Responsibilities
Input County, Low Income Energy Assistance (LEAP) and Foster Care Refunds to CFMS
Input Non System Determined claims. Activate, suspend, revise and close claims in Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS) with corresponding comments. Close fully paid cases and pull appropriate documentation
Analyze payment receipts to determine the appropriate identification of the payor, the recovery against which the payment should be credited and the General Ledger account(s) which should be credited. Input to Great Plains or Banner, verify accuracy and reconcile to the checks run through check scanner and daily cash intake
Update information on existing recoveries for subsequent court orders, address changes, and additional household members. Research payment history for recoveries at the request of recovery agent on specific recovery accounts
Fill in as needed to receive payments, distribute warrants and issue EBT cards at the Receptionist Window. Reconcile weekly Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card issued at the window. Record weekly EBT cards issued and destroyed
Record Great Plains and Banner payables, receivables and general ledger entries
Research returned warrants, intercept letters, statements, demand letters, and billing notices for proper redistribution
Assist in researching of incoming bills to verify that all required supporting documentation has been obtained, signatures of authorization for payment have been obtained and calculations made have been properly footed. Segregate bills to appropriate payrolls
Assist in distribution of warrants for mailing to vendors. Maintain log of Purchase Orders to verify that records have not been obtained or utilized fraudulently
Prepare invoices for payment and data input payment information into appropriate payrolls: Monthly Payrolls: Foster Care, Child Care, Medical Exams, Core Services, Case Services Bimonthly Payrolls: General Assistance, Medicaid Transportation Weekly Payrolls: Administrative, Special Economic Assistance (SEA), Travel As-Needed Payrolls: Payouts, Emergency Payments requires accurate input of all data including vendor identification, invoice number, purchase order number, descriptive information, general ledger coding and client/service-specific additional information
Qualification
Required
High school graduation or GED equivalency
Two years full time office clerical experience, one year of which must have included bookkeeping duties
Successful completion of appropriate business courses obtained beyond High School may substitute for experience on a year for year basis
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
Ability to enter data into several different computer programs
Ability to learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis
Knowledge of computer programs, such as Microsoft Windows and Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
