Administrative Assistant I (NY HELPS)

Capital Region BOCES is seeking an Administrative Assistant I to assist a department by expediting, coordinating, and interpreting departmental policies and procedures. The role involves training and supervising employees, as well as performing various office management tasks.

Ability to train and supervise employees in office methods and procedures
Ability to organize and layout work for others
Ability to get along well with subordinates and others and to secure their cooperation

Required

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university and one (1) year of responsible office experience in a public or private business
Associate's Degree and three (3) years of experience as noted in A. above
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED and five (5) years of responsible office experience
Good knowledge of principles and practices of office management, including a knowledge of personnel methods and procedures, organization, reporting and communications
Good knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; good knowledge of business arithmetic and English
Working knowledge of statistical techniques
Ability to train and supervise employees in office methods and procedures
Ability to organize and layout work for others
Ability to get along well with subordinates and others and to secure their cooperation

Tact and courtesy
Dependability
Physical condition commensurate with the position
