Senior Cyber Security Engineer
Astrion is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer located at the Program Executive Office of Integrated Warfare Systems Contract in Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC. The role involves providing engineering support services, designing cybersecurity solutions, and managing the integration of cyber capabilities onto surface warfare combat systems.

Responsibilities
Provide Engineering Support Services (ESS) to NAVSEA PEO IWS Cyber Leads
Worth both off-site in contractor spaces and on-site at the Washington Navy Yard
Design and coordinate the implementation of cybersecurity solutions on surface combat systems
Experience planning, researching and developing security policies, standards and procedures
Serve as liaison between Program Office and internal/external stakeholders
Manage the development and integration of cyber capabilities onto surface warfare combat systems
Conduct independent technical assessments of cybersecurity evaluation results and test reports to inform system upgrade recommendations
Develop briefs on cybersecurity, system development, emergent cyber issues, and schedule risks to convey critical information to Navy Leadership (Civilian, Military, etc.)
Facilitate working groups on cyber activities within the combat system
Provide inputs and present statuses regularly to Navy Leadership, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), etc
Oversee end-to-end funding operations, gather and analyze requirements for upcoming fiscal years, refine tasking to align with strategic objectives, and input data into financial platforms
Qualification
Required
Active DoD SECRET Clearance
Cybersecurity and computer networking skills are highly desired along with basic competency with MS Office and technical writing
A master's degree in a relevant field and ten (10) years of relevant experience in cyber security, information system management, software development, design or authorization; or
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in cyber security, information system management, software development, design or authorization; or
A high school degree, or a GED, and more than twenty (20) years of relevant experience in cyber security, information system management, software development, design or authorization
Knowledge of DoD and DON cyber policies and procedures and/or NIST 800-53, DoDI 8500.01, and DoDI 8510.01
Must be flexible in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, competing priorities, and unpredictable events
Ideal candidate has demonstrated ability to assign work and manage personnel and tasks
Familiar with and able to present data and recommendations to Government and Military leadership
Thorough, detail oriented, and organized, with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once
Superb verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated and independent thinker with out-of-the-box ideas
Leadership skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
Technical IT and cyber security background
Excellent written skills since the validator develops and/or updates written system authorization supporting artifacts
Excellent verbal skills since the validator works directly with the program offices and leadership to communicate progress, status, recommendations, and related information
Excellent teamwork skills since the validator works in cooperation with program offices, different ISEAs and other support organizations
Excellent organizational skills since the validator may work several packages at once
