Responsibilities

Lead full-cycle CMT projects, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and vendor coordination
Oversee testing and inspections for soils, concrete, asphalt, and structural materials
Manage and mentor field and laboratory staff, ensuring compliance with IBC/IRC codes, QA/QC standards, and safety protocols
Review, approve, and sign off on CMT reports; provide consultative guidance to clients on results and construction recommendations
Manage and support special inspections (e.g., welding, fireproofing)
Integrate with geotechnical scopes (up to ~20% of workload for qualified candidates)
Attend pre-bid meetings, support business development, and maintain strong client relationships across the Mid-Atlantic region
Ensure regulatory compliance and safe jobsite practices

Required

5–10+ years of experience as a Project Manager in Construction Materials Testing (CMT)
Branch or division management experience strongly preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license (Civil) •OR• multiple relevant certifications such as:
WACEL Soils / Concrete
ACI Foundations / Masonry
Proven ability to manage projects from proposal through closeout
Strong client-facing, leadership, and communication skills
Valid driver's license and ability to perform occasional field oversight

Preferred

Background at firms such as ECS, Hillis-Carnes, or similar CMT-focused organizations
Experience with ~80% CMT and some geotechnical exposure
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or similar inspection credentials
Demonstrated success mentoring teams and contributing to operational growth
