Communications Specialist
Pierce County is seeking a Communications Specialist to support the Executive’s Office, Human Resources, and Finance. The role involves developing communication plans, collaborating with senior leaders, and delivering clear messaging to employees and the public regarding key county initiatives.

Responsibilities
Identify and analyze issues of concern and emerging trends to management; provide strategic communication objectives, techniques, and plans
Provide strategic counsel to management and other internal customers regarding communication needs
Communicate with the media, write, and edit news releases
Establish and maintain communication standards, including the County’s logo/branding policy
Work effectively on a deadline during an emergency
Qualification
Required
A resume, cover letter, and 2-3 recent work samples that are reflective of the work you can produce independently are required for this position. Applications without a resume, cover letter, and 2-3 recent work samples will not be considered
A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a closely related field; and
3-5 years of related professional communications experience, including web management/development experience, is required
Additional education or experience that clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may substitute on a year-for-year basis
