Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. They are seeking an Above Ground Storage Tank (AST) inspector to support the inspection program, ensuring compliance with state and federal codes and standards while performing inspections and generating reports.

Responsibilities
Perform inspections on Above Ground Storage Tanks (ASTs) as required per SP001, NMAC 20.5 and other applicable codes and standards
Generate reports under the supervision of the senior AST Inspector
Work with personnel to correct identified deficiencies to ensure AST compliance
Perform NDE examinations for call out work across all facilities
Schedule inspections and necessary equipment with asset owners
Maintain work execution metrics to track the progress of the AST program
Communicate with work groups outside of MSS-MP to streamline inspection execution
Maintain/update equipment database as the program grows
Provide SME level review of Operation and Maintenance/Preventative Maintenance documents
Interface with engineering design review, applications of engineering methods and technology aided engineering tools
Leverage experience erecting, inspecting, and repair/alteration of Above Ground Storage Tanks
Provide leadership/mentorship to level II AST inspectors
Provide support to Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspection programs
Develop resolutions to complex problems that require creativity and in-depth evaluation of variable factors
Qualification
Required
Ability to work within a team-based environment to complete projects
Ability to communicate, both written and verbally
Proficiency with personal computers and common software platforms, such as Microsoft Office, and records management experience
Demonstrated ability to work independently on assignments
Working experience with ASTs, NDE, Mechanical Systems, and Fixed Equipment
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree and 2 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation (10 years of directly related experience) for Engineering Technologist 1
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation (13 years of directly related experience) for Engineering Technologist 2
Demonstrated experience in design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical baseline maintenance of ASTs for Engineering Technologist 2
Demonstrated experience of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections I, II, V, VIII, and IX for Engineering Technologist 2
Demonstrated experience of the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors NB-23 code, and standards related to design, construction, installation, inspection, operation, maintenance, repair, alteration, and re-rating of boilers and pressure vessels, and piping systems for Engineering Technologist 2
Demonstrated experience with API 650, 510, 571, 653, 651, 652, and 579 related to ASTs and fixed equipment for Engineering Technologist 2
Working knowledge of non-destructive testing techniques and welding processes for ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections V and IX for Engineering Technologist 2
ASNT-TC 1A NDE LEVEL II in UTT, MT, and PT for Engineering Technologist 1
STI SP001 certification and ASNT-TC 1A NDE LEVEL II in UTT, MT, and PT for Engineering Technologist 2
Preferred
STI SP001 certification
Certifications in: API 653, NM A/B/C/ Operator
Knowledge of DOE and LANL standards applicable to facility design, operation, and maintenance
At least one year of experience in a nuclear facility
Awareness of LANL Quality Policies and Procedures
Experience using Plant Condition Management Software (PCMS)
