Sr. Paralegal (Real Estate - Title)

Graystone Group is supporting the largest asset-backed lender in the Mid-Atlantic in the search for an experienced Title & Lending Paralegal to support in-house counsel and legal operations. This role is heavily focused on title review, title clearance, and real estate–secured loan documentation throughout the full loan lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Review and interpret title commitments, title reports, and recorded documents for residential and commercial real estate collateral
Identify and resolve title defects, including liens, judgments, prior mortgages, easements, tax issues, and ownership discrepancies
Review and approve legal descriptions for deeds of trust, mortgages, and Certificates of Satisfaction
Coordinate payoffs, releases, subordinations, and curative actions with title companies, attorneys, and internal teams
Ensure compliance with internal Wet Closing Package (WCP) and lender title requirements prior to funding
Draft and prepare real estate–secured loan documents, including: Promissory notes, Deeds of trust / mortgages, Guarantees, Assignments and related closing documents
Support in-house counsel with legal research, file review, and internal memoranda related to secured lending matters
Assist with post-closing documentation, recording verification, and file completeness
Work closely with originations, processing, closing, servicing, and sales teams to ensure smooth and timely loan execution
Act as a liaison between internal teams, title companies, outside counsel, and vendors
Maintain organized, audit-ready legal and title files in accordance with internal policies and regulatory standards

Required

2+ years of paralegal experience supporting attorneys in real estate lending
2+ years of paralegal experience supporting attorneys in title review and clearance
2+ years of paralegal experience supporting attorneys in secured transactions
Direct experience reviewing title reports, legal descriptions, and recorded real estate documents
Strong understanding of real estate title, lien priority, and secured lending concepts
Exceptional attention to detail and risk awareness
Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines simultaneously
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with legal research tools, document management systems, and Excel/Word
Collaborative mindset with the ability to operate independently in a high-volume lending operation

Preferred

Bankruptcy or foreclosure experience
Experience in private lending, hard money, bridge, or asset-backed lending environments
