The role involves providing legal counsel to franchisors and franchisees, managing transactional work, and ensuring regulatory compliance in franchise and corporate law.

Responsibilities

Provide legal counsel and representation to franchisors, including drafting franchise agreements, managing franchise disclosures, and ensuring regulatory compliance
Assist franchisees by reviewing franchise disclosure documents and agreements, negotiating terms, and advising on franchise-related matters
Handle transactional work such as purchases, sales, and renewals of franchise businesses
Respond to inquiries from government entities and ensure clients adhere to franchise law compliance
Manage a portfolio of existing franchise and business clients independently while collaborating with the team as needed
Draft and negotiate commercial agreements related to franchise and corporate law
Conduct training programs and provide guidance to clients on franchise law compliance and best practices
Address franchise relationship issues, including defaults, terminations, and transfers
Maintain high-quality client service standards and deliver thorough, detail-oriented work
Stay informed on developments in franchise and corporate law to provide up-to-date advice and solutions

Required

Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois
Minimum of 2 years of experience in transactional business or corporate law
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Commitment to producing high-quality legal work and providing excellent client service
Willingness to engage in franchise law training to deepen knowledge and expertise
Ability to work autonomously while managing significant client responsibilities

Preferred

Prior experience in franchise law is preferred but not required
