INTERN - Community Engagement Program Assistant

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency focused on critical regional issues. They are seeking an intern to support the Community Engagement and Culture initiative, assisting with program documentation, community events, and promoting inclusive engagement.

Responsibilities

Generates and develops materials for programs within the group and the department that promotes inclusive engagement and community development
Supports all programs under the Community Engagement and Culture initiative with preparation and documentation including Community-Centered Design and Community Forums
Supports cultural events, activities, and programs that center the values and priorities of community members
Supports community meetings, forums, and events related to inclusive community engagement
Supports production of presentations to community members, partner organizations, and internal stakeholders related to inclusive community engagement
Performs other duties as assigned to support agency goals and objectives

Required

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in the arts, urban or regional planning, economics, architecture, landscape architecture or related field
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation
Knowledge of arts and culture, community engagement, community development
Knowledge of cultural programming, and social equity best practices and strategies
Strong knowledge of Adobe Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, with some familiarity with CANVA
Ability to communicate and present information effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a broad variety of audiences
Ability to work as a part of a team and complete tasks to deadline with general instructions
Ability to work with diverse communities and populations
Ability to provide a high level of attention to detail
Ability to utilize communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, and reporting requirements
Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage in public meetings, events, and forums
Excellent proofreading skills
Proficient with computer and relevant software applications

Preferred

An equivalent combination of education and experience in design, proofreading, and community engagement sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation
